FC Basel´s Ivory Coast international, Geoffroy Serey Die on loan to Neuchâtel Xamax FCS until the end of the season. The 34-year old´s contract with FCB expires in the summer 2020.
The Africa-Cup is the reason for Geoffroy Serey Die´s move: „I couldn’t risk not playing as much with FCB in the 2nd half of the season. With regular appearances for Xamax I will be able to help my new club achieve their goals, as well as prepare for the Africa-Cup with the Ivory Coast this summer.
FCB and Geoffroy found a solution which fits both parties, stated Marco Streller: „ Geoffroy has done a lot for FCB and has gained tremendous support and popularity amongst FCB´s fans. We are very thankful for all that he has done for the club. It is understandable that he wants to choose a new path, especially since FCB have a large number of players in their team as well as central midfielders.”
