In regards to the latest developments in connection with the corona virus, the Swiss Football Association (SFV) has decided to completely suspend all football operations and until further notice. As of this Friday evening (insert date), this applies to all games of all categories and ages.

The Swiss Football League has suspended all operations in the Raiffeisen Super League and in the Brack.ch Challenge League until further notice.

The SFV based its decision in line with Switzerland's general strategy and after consulting the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG). According to the health authorities and epidemiologists, football is considered a team sport with an increased risk of infection. On the basis of the BAG's estimates and evaluations, the SFV recommends that clubs, including the amateur divisions, temporarily suspend all training sessions until further notice.

SFV Central President Dominique Blanc explains that exceptional situations require exceptional measures. "We take the general developments into account and at the same time, as a large sports association in Switzerland, we want to do justice to the overall social responsibility. It is a decision in the interests of society and the health of all people in our country."

FC Basel 1893 acknowledges and respects the authority´s decisions in connection with the current coronavirus situation. We ask all of FC Basel´s fans, sponsors and partners, as well as all media representatives for their understanding. Due to these unforeseen circumstances, the club needs some time to organize itself and to determine and analyse all possible consequences connected with the made decisions. As soon as FCB evaluates the situation and has obtained an overview of the various tasks and priorities for the entire club, it will inform its fans and the public in regards to the relevant topics. As of now the club needs a little time and kindly asks you for your patience.
